ABOUT PRINTING YOUR PROJECTS
Working with Printers
I can work directly with the printer of choice to provide them with the correct files. Having worked with multiple printing companies. Communication between the designer and printer is very important so this is suggested to make sure all technical issues are addressed and the job comes out as intended by the designer. I’ve worked with printers for many years, so there’s a complete understanding of the print process and file types needed for proper results. If you don’t know the meaning of cmyk, rgb, bleeds, dpi, 4/4, plates, bindery, registration, aqueous coating, dot gain, finished size, gatefold or ganging, best to allow me to step in and get the job done right.
Since the handling of print jobs is not the same now as the old fashioned way of “print management” and press checks, there is no upcharge for print jobs. I can place print orders with online printers using your credit card as a service to you for a small fee instead of a a larger percentage of the entire project. If you prefer to place print orders on your own, that’s fine, just put me in touch with the printer so I can coast through the communication and get things done efficiently.
Managing your own print jobs
If you completely handle your own printing, that’s fine, but then it is suggested you get a proof before printing the final quantity, and allow for any necessary file changes. Often clients have someone they feel they have to use to print their job for one reason or another. Sometimes these projects don’t come out as well as they could, so out of shear desire to make sure my designs look right, I don’t mind taking the extra step to place a print order with a reputable source.
HOT TIP
Online printers have great pricing on four color projects and their quality is fantastic.
Here are some of the online printers I use with links to their sites:
PrintPlace.com
GotPrint.com
If you prefer that I order the print job I’ve designed for you, I’m happy to do that for a fee of $25 per print order.
